FREE courses for people who are unemployed, currently seeking work and on benefits
The Government has recently relaxed the eligibility rules relating to tuition fees, which means that most people who are unemployed, currently seeking work and on benefits are now eligible for fee discounts and in many cases free courses.
The full list of benefits is at the bottom of this page* . The good news is that if you are claiming one of these benefits you are likely to be able to study free, or pay only exams and materials fees.

Full Level 2 courses are free to students who:
• are 19 years old and over
• are unemployed, currently seeking work and on benefits
A Full Level 2 qualification is the academic equivalent of:
• five GCSEs at grades A-C
• a GNVQ Intermediate
• a BTEC Diploma, previously known as BTEC First Diploma
• a National Vocational Qualification NVQ Level 2

Full Level 3 courses are free to learners who:
• have started, but not completed, a First Full Level 2 qualification and then jump to a First Full Level 3 course. These learners are known as Level 3 jumpers. The minimum age limit is 19
• are unemployed, currently seeking work and on benefits
A Full Level 3 qualification is the academic equivalent of:
• two or more A Levels, four or more AS Levels
• GNVQ Advanced or AVCE
• BTEC Extended Diploma, previously known as BTEC National Diploma
• Access to Higher Education Vocational Qualification Level 3 courses
• Open College Network OCN Level 3 qualifications

Students may have to pay any examination and materials fees relevant to the course.
