This qualification is for aspiring Graphic Designers. As an apprentice you will earn while you learn by working as a graphic designer. During the Apprenticeship you will attend college to develop your technical / creative skills and learn about the Creative Industries. Course content will include:
- Software Skills: Creative Suite: Design Premium (Including; Photoshop, Illustrator, in Design.)
- Business Skills: Understanding the Creative Industries / Developing positive working relationships
- Creative Skills: Responding to a Creative Briefs
- Core Skills: English and Maths
What do I need?
To be accepted onto this programme you will normally need 4 GCSEs at Grade A C including English and Maths, or an alternative vocational qualification (e.g. BTEC in arts / media) . In addition to this you should have experience of graphic design (or a related subject) and be able to present a portfolio of work at interview.
How is the course taught?
The apprenticeship will vary depending on your employer, generally you will attend college one day per week and work four days per week. While you are at college you will be taught via practical lessons and workshops, you will also receive 1-2-1 guidance and support.
How will I be assessed?
You will produce a portfolio of work which reflects the skills and knowledge you gain at college and in the workplace. In addition to this you will have an individual tutor who will visit you while you are at work.
What does it lead to?
You could progress onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Design or Creative and Digital Media. Alternatively you could remain in employment.
