“I went to school in China and came to the UK in 2000.My son was born in 2003 and my daughter in 2004. The College supported me by paying for a childminder.
I’m doing the Diploma in Childcare and Education CACHE Level 3 course at Tottenham Green, just completing my second year. I have one more assignment to hand in. I’m a good student - I’m sure I’ll pass.
It's been hard work - I’ve had to study hard at Level 3, and also looking after my kids every night, after I put them to bed I have to do my college work. The staff are supportive, especially my Curriculum Manager - she’s very good, explaining the assignments - you get a very clear understanding from her. I’ve improved my childcare knowledge, I know more in depth, more about theories and legislation, these things are very good.
I like working with children and I get on well with the staff. I've completed placements as part of my course, and I think I’m ready for work. I’ve enjoyed working with this nursery, the staff are very friendly and supportive as well. I feel more relaxed here than in a school; the children get more individual attention, as the staff ratio is very good.
The College Careers Service is on hand now to help me to find a job."
